Manage your time effectively with these tricks
There are a few tricks that you can use to manage your time effectively that can level up your productivity. Here are 5 tricks for you.
Frequently, we find ourselves wasting a lot of our precious time on social media and other unproductive tasks. Even after taking strict resolutions, we may find it hard to break this cycle. Effective time management can help you to be more productive, achieve your goals, and reduce stress.
Hello readers👨🏽💻,
Welcome to the latest issue of my newsletter✨,
Today I am going to share with you some tricks on how to manage your time effectively. So let’s get right into it.👇🏽
1. Setting time limits
Decide how much time you're willing to spend on social media or other unproductive tasks each day. Then, stick to your limit. You can use a timer to help you stay on track like the screen time on iOS and digital wellbeing on Android. Alternately you can use some time tracking apps like Toggl, RescueTime and Clockify.

2. Find other alternatives
When you feel the urge to waste time on an unproductive task, try finding something else to do that is more productive or enjoyable. For example, when I had the urge to waste my time on unproductive tasks I started to go to play Badminton and it became a daily thing for me. You could try going for a walk, read a book, or work on a hobby.
3. Identifying your triggers
What are the things that make you most likely to waste time on social media or other unproductive tasks? Once you know your triggers, you can start to develop strategies to avoid them. For example, if you find yourself checking social media first thing in the morning, try turning off your phone or putting it in another room before you go to bed. I personally restricted myself not to use my phone one hour before and after I go to bed and wake up.
4. Making it difficult for unproductive tasks
If you have to go out of your way to access unproductive tasks, you're less likely to do them. For example, you could uninstall social media apps from your phone or block certain websites which is exactly what I did months ago. I deleted all my social media accounts and blocked some websites when I felt like they were the most time wasting things hindering my productivity and believe me when I say I saw a significant difference in my productivity after I deleted them.

5. Accountability
Tell a friend, family member, or colleague about your goal to stop wasting time. Ask them to hold you accountable and check in with you regularly. I shared all my challenges and how I wanted to overcome them with my girlfriend and she held me accountable whenever I crossed them. After a few days of this happening I changed myself automatically and there was a lot of improvement in my time management abilities.
You can try to find a suitable “productivity buddy” who can help you to stay on track and achieve your goals. A productivity buddy is someone who is also trying to improve their time management skills and who can offer support and encouragement.
It's important to be patient and persistent. It may take some time to break the habit of wasting time. But if you stick with it, you'll eventually be able to reclaim your time and use it for more productive and enjoyable things.
Additional tips
Start small. Don't try to change everything at once. Start by setting a goal to reduce your time on social media by 30 minutes each day. Once you've achieved that goal, you can set a new goal to reduce your time even further. I never became productive overnight. It was all thanks to my consistency and leaning my lessons when I failed.
Don't be afraid to fail. Everyone slips up from time to time. If you have a setback, don't beat yourself up about it. Just pick yourself up and start again. Remember that “Failures are the stepping stones to success”.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." - Thomas Edison
"Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm." - Winston Churchill
Celebrate your successes. Every time you achieve a goal, take the time to celebrate your success. This will help you stay motivated and on track. I often reward myself to a healthy snack whenever I achieve a goal I set.
Using time tracker apps. There are some time tracker apps that will track how much you study, work or do a project. You can use an app like RescueTime. I personally never used these so I can’t say anything about them. But here’s a link to my Top 5 recommended productivity apps that I use literally everyday.
So guys these are some tips for better time management that I used. I hope this was of some help to you. Comment about your challenges and the ways you faced them so that it could be of help to others also.
